Oh, the possibilities!

AUGUST 2008: HM+C set to launch first Drupal website in September. From the beginning, HM+C’s Web+Technology Director Josh Miller was sold on Drupal’s value as a Web platform. So, when Aspen Group asked for a site upgrade, he used Drupal, which made the project affordable and allowed him to give them exactly what they wanted – news, white papers, project portfolio, edited content and new sections – in about half the time. When Aspen Group’s site goes “live” in September, it will mark the beginning of a giant leap in HM+C’s Web development capabilities.

Drupal is a powerful open source content management system. “It’s like having a big box of erector set components,” stated Josh. “You’ve got all the pieces to build whatever you can imagine. You just have to know how. And that’s where we come in.”

The Aspen Group project allowed us to test-drive Drupal and enthusiasm remains high. It’s a breakthrough for smaller clients who wouldn’t have been able to afford all the bells and whistles before, and it’s a benefit for larger clients who want to keep their site fresh and relevant, because it’s easy to update and gives them control over content and functionality.

Drupal is also very reliable and secure. For clients who dream of taking their websites beyond a static brochure stage to dynamic conversations with customers, HM+C now offers the technology to give them value-rich content at a price anyone can afford. Our process, which begins with an assessment of client needs, has evolved in the trenches so it’s practical and highly efficient. Our expertise in branding ensures each client site will stand out and reflect their unique brand. Plus, we offer training and can provide ongoing assistance.

HM+C adds audio/video services

JULY 26, 2008: Haan Marketing+Communications (HM+C) now offers clients in-house audio and video production capabilities. “We’ve always had audio/video production in our mix, but we typically outsourced it,” said HM+C president, Bob Dearing. “By bringing production in-house, we can work around our clients’ schedules, better control quality and adherence to our clients’ brand standards, and deliver a top notch product quickly at a savings.”

The new service line is part of HM+C’s commitment to growth and holistic branding. It enables the full-service advertising agency to offer traditional as well as digital media options for television, radio, and web and take advantage of alternative and emerging media opportunities.

Matt MannMatthew “Matt” Mann joins HM+C as its new Audio/Video Specialist. He will develop and oversee the service line. His responsibilities also include the technical aspects of video marketing, creative development and scripting, producing, directing and editing. A graduate of Purdue, Matt has a BA degree in Film and Video. He has worked on numerous independent films and was a multi-award winner at Purdue’s annual Digital Cinema Contest.

HM+C named Agency of Record

JUNE 2008: Purdue Athletics Department names HM+C Agency of Record. Three other agencies, including an Indianapolis firm, competed for the coveted slot, however HM+C’s in-depth understanding of the client’s culture, high impact creative, smart media buys and new in-house video production capabilities helped seal the deal.

HM+C’s longstanding collaboration with Purdue Athletics began in 1995. Through the years we have broadened exposure, helped increase ticket sales and produced memorable campaigns for football, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. Top award-winners included “We’ve Got Your Game” (NCAdFed Best in Show), “Boilermaker Barbershop/Traditions,” “GoodGuys” and “I-LUV-Coach.” In 2007, HM+C delivered “BoilerUp!” and turned an unofficial battle cry into an all-campus, all-sports brand unifier.

The 2008 Boilermaker football broadcast campaign – “Where Will You Be?” – will launch in mid summer and mark a strategic return to promoting the quality and character of Purdue Student Athletes. The television spots will be shot and edited at HM+C.
